Step 1: Open the Stock Lens Portal
Click the drop-down arrow next to your practice name in the purple header bar, then click Switch to Stock Lens Portal. New to the portal? Start with Getting Started with Stock Lens Ordering.
Step 2: Enter your lens parameters
Click the purple Browse Lenses button in the left-hand menu. This opens the Stock Lens Inventory page.
In section 1, Input Lens Parameters, fill in the required fields (marked with a purple asterisk):
Class: set to Finished. Finished stock lenses are the only class available right now.
Material: for example 1.49 Plastic, 1.53 Trivex, 1.58 Polycarbonate, 1.60 Plastic, 1.67 Plastic, or 1.74 Plastic.
Coating: Scratch, Anti-Reflective, or Uncoated.
Vision Type: Single Vision or Bifocal.
Color: for example Clear, Blue Blocker, Photochromic Gray, or Polarized Gray.
You can narrow your results further with the optional Manufacturer, Lens Type (Spherical or Aspheric), and Diameter filters. Results can also be sorted alphabetically or numerically! Each drop-down only shows options that are available for the choices you've already made. To clear a filter, open it and click Remove. To start over, click Reset Parameters.
Step 3: Pick a lens from the results
Once all required parameters are filled in, section 2, Select Lenses to Order, unlocks. Until then, this section lists which parameters are still missing.
Each result shows the manufacturer, brand, the sphere and cylinder ranges available, the lens type, the diameter, and the estimated price per lens. Click View Ordering Grid on the lens you want.
Step 4: Select a lens power from the grid
The Lens Ordering Grid opens with the full lens description and estimated price per unit at the top. Sphere powers run down the left side and cylinder powers run across the top. The row and column headers stay visible as you scroll, and the headers for the cell you're pointing at are highlighted, so you always know which power you're looking at.
Each cell is color-coded to show stock availability. See Reading the Stock Lens Grid for what each color means. Click a cell to select that power.
Step 5: Choose the order type and quantity
After selecting a power, choose how the lenses should be labeled in the Specify the desired quantity panel:
Reference Order: attach a name (such as your patient's name) so you can identify the lens when it arrives. A reference name is required.
Inventory Order: restock your office's lens bank. No name needed.
Learn more in Reference Orders vs. Inventory Orders.
The panel shows the power you picked (SPH / CYL), the quantity available, and the price per unit. Use the plus and minus buttons to set a quantity. The plus button stops at the quantity available. When the quantity is 1, the minus button becomes a trash can that removes the power.
To order more powers in the same group, just click more cells in the grid. The number you're ordering appears inside each cell. To start a separate group (for example, a second patient), click Add More. Finished groups collapse into a summary showing the total powers and quantity.
Step 6: Add to Cart
Check the totals at the bottom of the panel (inventory lenses, reference lenses, total lenses, and total price), then click Add to Cart. The button becomes clickable once every group has a quantity and, for Reference Orders, a reference name.
You can keep browsing and adding lenses. When you're ready, click Review Cart at the top of the page to check out. See Your Shared Stock Lens Cart and Checking Out and Order Cutoff Times.
Tip: changing your selection
If you picked the wrong lens, close the grid using the X in the top-right corner instead of your browser's back button. If you've already entered quantities, SpecCheck will ask you to confirm before discarding them. Using the browser back button can reset your filters.
Click Cancel at the top of the Stock Lens Inventory page to return to your Orders.
