Complete an Order With AI (Beta)

Type, upload, or dictate an Rx order and let SpecCheck AI fill in the order form for you.

Complete with AI is the fastest way to enter an Rx order. Describe the order in your own words, upload a prescription, or dictate it out loud, and SpecCheck AI fills in the order form for you. It asks for anything that's missing, checks your choices against your lab's catalog, and puts everything in the normal order form so you can review it before you submit.

Lab users can use Complete with AI too: open an ECP's Orders tab and click Create Order.

Complete with AI is currently in beta. Capabilities may change as we improve it. We'd love your feedback.

Coming Soon: Complete with AI works with Rx orders today. Support for Frame-Only and Chemistrie Clip orders is coming soon!

Open Complete with AI

  1. Click Create Order in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Complete with AI in the top-right of the order header, next to Delete Draft.

A panel opens with two sides:

  • Chat (left): where you describe the order and answer questions.

  • Order Summary (right): a live view of the order that updates as SpecCheck AI fills it in.

Add Your Order

Use whichever way is easiest for you. You can mix them in the same order.

Type or Paste

Type the order the way you'd say it, then press Enter. Optical shorthand works. For example:

"New Rx order for Jane Sample. Single vision, edge and mount. OD -2.25 -0.50 x 180, OS -2.00 -0.75 x 175, PD 32/31. Polycarbonate with AR coating."

SpecCheck AI understands entries like PD 32/31, frame sizes like 51-21-145, and phrases like supply w/ rx.

Upload an Rx

  1. Click + next to the message box.

  2. Choose an image of the prescription or a PMS printout.

  3. Send it. You don't need to add any text.

SpecCheck AI reads the patient name and the Rx for both eyes, including ADD. If the Rx has an ADD, it sets the order to multifocal for you. It also reads notes on the Rx, like a recommended material or coating.

Dictate With Your Voice

  1. Click the microphone icon in the message box.

  2. Speak the order. A waveform shows while SpecCheck AI is listening.

  3. Click the check mark when you're done.

  4. Your words appear in the message box. Check them, then send.

Answer Follow-Up Questions

The Required Fields bar at the top of the Order Summary shows how many required fields are still missing. Expand it to see the list.

  • SpecCheck AI asks for missing information one question at a time, like how the frame will be supplied or which progressive design you want.

  • Click an answer button, or type your answer. Typing lets you answer several questions at once.

  • Not sure what's left? Ask "What else do you need?"

When every required field is filled, the bar turns blue and reads Required fields are filled in.

Make Changes

Type a change at any time, like "Switch the material to Trivex and add a blue light filter."

SpecCheck AI checks every request against your lab's catalog and the Rx. If a lens isn't offered in a material, a value is out of range, or a request doesn't fit the order (like an ADD on a single-vision order), it tells you and asks what you'd like to do instead. You can also ask questions like "Which progressive designs come in 1.67?" or "Is this lens style available in 1.67 hi index?" and get answers based on what your lab partner offers.

Review and Submit

  1. Click Back to form to see the full order form with everything SpecCheck AI filled in. You can edit any field by hand.

  2. Check every section carefully.

  3. Click Review & Submit when you're ready. It becomes available once all required fields are filled.

Not ready to send it? Click Save Draft. Your order and your chat are both saved, so you can pick up where you left off. Learn more about drafts.

Please note: SpecCheck AI can make mistakes. Always review every order carefully before submitting it to your lab. Nothing is sent to your lab until you click Review & Submit.

Tips for Best Results

  • Include PD, seg heights, and frame details in your first message to save follow-up questions.

  • Use a clear, well-lit, straight-on image when uploading an Rx.

  • Dictate in a quiet room so background speech isn't picked up.

  • Use the thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons under each reply to tell us how it did.
