How the Order Delay Window Works
The moment you hit "Submit" shouldn't be the moment you lose control. Our Delayed Orders feature gives your team a critical grace period to cancel or edit an order before it's officially sent to the lab, helping you stop costly errors before they ever happen.
Every user has an Order Delay Period set in their Ordering Preferences under Settings, which is set to 5 minutes by default. When an order is submitted, the system waits for this set time to elapse before transmitting the order to the lab.
Catch and Fix Errors: This window is your safety net for correcting typos, missed coatings, or incorrect measurements that you spot right after submission.
Order Status: During the delay period, the order status is clearly marked as pending transmission to indicate that changes are still possible.
Access and Flexibility
The Order Delay Period is set to 5 minutes by default for all users. However, this setting is fully customizable! Every user can configure their delay window ranging from 5 minutes up to a full 24 hours (or disable the feature entirely).
Feature | Available Options |
Order Delay Period | 5 Minutes to 24 Hours, or Disabled |
Benefits of Delayed Orders
Customizing your delay window provides key advantages for your practice:
Workflow Alignment: Set a delay that matches your office's pace, such as holding orders until a manager can review them the next morning or allowing for edits.
Eliminating Panic: Reduce stress knowing you have a reliable safety net to catch typos, incorrect measurements, or missing add-ons, no matter the time of day the order was placed.
Complex Jobs: Give your team ample time to double-check specialty or high-cost jobs before sending them in.
đ How to Cancel an Order During the Delay Window
If you spot an error during the delay and need to cancel the order, you can do so directly from your dashboard. To cancel a pending order:
Navigate to the Order Details page.
Click Edit Order or Cancel Order to make updates as needed.
â ď¸ Important Note: Once the Order Delay Period lapses, the order is automatically transmitted to your lab. After transmission, the "Cancel Order" button will no longer be available, and you will need to contact the lab directly to request a cancellation.
